Korlon Kilpatrick joins Lynx Capital Corporation investment committee |
More financial resources are available to Indiana's small, minority-owned businesses as Horizon Bank is investing $100,000 in Lynx Capital Corporation.
Lynx Capital Corporation has added Korlon L. Kilpatrick II as a member of the Lynx Capital Investment Committee.
Kilpatrick is director of Regulatory Affairs for Citizens Energy Group in Indianapolis. He has previous experience in the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor and as an adjunct professor in the graduate business program at the University of Indianapolis.
Lynx Capital is an Indianapolis-based company that provides loans and guidance to Hoosier businesses owned by racial minorities throughout Indiana. Lynx is governed by a 14- member Board of Directors and the Investment Committee that has six members.
Kilpatrick earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelors Degree from Harvard University.
Kilpatrick says his own experience as an entrepreneur in Indianapolis 15 years ago influenced his decision to join the Lynx Investment Committee. “Every small business faces acute needs for capital, especially small companies owned by minorities. Participating with Lynx is a way for me to be involved in helping small businesses receive capital they need.”
Background:
Lynx Capital Corp. was formed in 1991 to provide growth capital to companies owned by racial minorities. The companies should be at least 3 years old and need $75,000 - $300,000. Since its inception Lynx has provided more than $18 million to 90 businesses. Lynx is managed by Cambridge Capital Management, a corporation that also manages Indiana Statewide Certified Development Corporation, Indiana Community Business Capital Corporation, and other sources of alternate capital.
